IV Certification

Participants receive hands-on training to develop their clinical competencies. This involves practicing IV catheter insertion on manikins, fellow students, or supervised clinical settings. They will learn how to choose the appropriate vein, perform venipuncture, and ensure patient comfort and safety during the procedure. 

Topics covered in class include:

• Anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system
• Infection control and aseptic techniques
• IV catheter insertion and removal
• Different types of IV solutions and medications
• Calculation of drip rates and dosages
• Complications and their management (e.g., infiltration, phlebitis)
• Documentation and record-keeping

At the end of the program, participants may need to pass a certification examination to demonstrate their competence in IV therapy. This certification can serve as a valuable credential for career advancement and professional recognition.
